Sutro Baths wedding photographer
San Francisco, California. 10.30 PM… The lights from San Francisco’s hilly streets are streaming past the open window of Gillian and Cameron’s station wagon. My face is swepted over by the ocean’s evening dampness, and jet lag is still here, making me giddy.
I’m carried away by this special atmosphere in the car, from another age. This moment has already gone but I wish it would last forever. Without a noise, without a word, Cameron turns the radio on and an old french song arises from the 50s. My sight is turning to black and white, my eyes are closing… Sitting on that leather seat, my soul isn’t here and now, it won’t be here, it refuses to admit that their story has already been written and that I will only be able to bring it back through the pictures I’ve taken. I can’t hear the noise of the engine anymore, nor that of the street. I can only receive noiseless images. I’m like them both at that precise moment, happy to live, happy to be here, simply happy. Now you understand why this song runs through the pictures as the soundtrack to their couple session.
I couldn’t think of any other song. There couldn’t be any other. The strength of their love and the fact that they decided to show it through in front of my camera moved me touched me deep inside, it had a great effect on me. I knew that Sutro Baths was a beautiful place and that sunset would make it heavenly. I was far from thinking how these two birds would make it even more magical. Such moments are unforgettable, they are bound to leave marks on a man, and to make a storyteller more than happy. More than 5600 miles away from home, I was happy. Fully satisfied. Happy that they chose me to tell their storry, happy that I was there, happy to live.
